Paua Shell Cluster Family Silver-Backed Floating Necklace

A cluster of farm paua abalone shells hangs on a fine sterling silver chain necklace. The intimate cradling of the shells symbolises the unity of each loved one or family (whānau*) member they represent.

This design draws inspiration from the natural tendency of sea mollusks. They thrive when clustered together in the water, serving as a beautiful symbol of unity.

I hand-sculpted the outer shells with clay, then electroformed and plated them in silver to complement the inner shell's lustre that paua is known for.
