Still Far From Home: Reflections from the Taranaki Coast

Still far from home. It's Wednesday after Easter, and I'm on an extended one here in Taranaki. So just sharing a few shellfies...

I've been thinking about distance a lot. Not just physical distance, but the distance between where you are and where you thought you'd be. Between what you planned and what actually happened.

The coast here is dramatic in a way that Northland isn't. Big, angular cliffs. Dark sand. Mt Taranaki appearing and disappearing through cloud like it's deciding whether to show up today.

I've been collecting kina shells on the beach in the evenings. The light at dusk here is extraordinary — all orange and pink against that dark volcanic sand.

I'll be back this weekend — salty, sandy, and ready to make things again. New pieces dropping next week.

With sandy hands and a salty heart,
Rina
